2024 BelGee X50 1.5T AMT 150HP | POV Test Drive
Right, so I've just taken the BelGee X50 out for a spin around town. This little crossover from Belarus is basically a rebadged Geely Coolray, but hey, a rose by any other name and all that.
Hopping inside, it's not exactly palatial but it'll do. The seats are comfy enough and everything is where you'd expect. Firing up the 1.5 liter turbo, it's got a bit of pep - 150 horses apparently. Not bad.
Pulling out onto the streets, the 7-speed auto shifts smoothly. Zipping through downtown traffic, the X50 feels pretty nimble for a crossover. Steering is light, maybe a bit too light if I'm being picky. Suspension soaks up the bumps decently.
Now, it's no speed demon, but it gets up to highway speeds eventually. Engine drones a bit when pushed. I will say, for a budget car, it's not half bad to toss around some curves. Body roll is there but not terrible.
So after a day behind the wheel, what's the verdict? The BelGee X50 is a perfectly acceptable little runabout. It's not going to set your hair on fire with excitement, but it's not offensive either. Good points are the perky engine, comfy ride, and decent handling. Downsides are the cheap plastic bits inside and that droning engine note.
If you need basic transport and aren't fussed about brand prestige, you could do worse than the X50. I give it a respectable 6.5 out of 10. It's like the baked beans on toast of cars - filling, cheap and gets the job done. And there you have it.
