8086K with Evga 1080ti ftw 3 on water. Still going fine. I have no plans to upgrade yet. This will be a 10 year machine.

Before even watching the video: yes, yes you should.

Even before watching this video I know that my GTX 1080 is still amazing. After getting my 4090 I still find myself using my smaller PC with my old 1080 from time to time. I love this card.

These old GPU's still have a lot of power in them for modern games!

Even Maxwell GPU's are still very good, i built myself a project box to experiment but to also have a solid high end Windows 7 machine and a totally overkill Windows XP machine.

It ran a GTX680 at first but found a really solid deal on a Titan X Maxwell and snagged it and its just insane how powerful Maxwell is to this day.
As a matter of fact, Maxwell is still being sold today through the Switch because it uses the Tegra X1 SoC!

I used a 750 Ti/i5-2500K for some time, so going from that to a 1080 Ti/i7-5960X is a ridiculous leap for me personally. There's definitely better, but with what I can afford and with what's been available on the used market, it's a substantial upgrade that I've come to really appreciate, especially during lockdown days. Maybe in another 6-7 years or so, stuff like a 7900 XTX paired with a 7800X3D can be had for pretty damn cheap, as is the case with the higher end parts of yesteryear. 👍

I bought my pc a few days ago it has a GTX 1080 and an I7-6700K It performs well enough for me on all low settings call of duty black ops 6 around 80-120 fps fortnite 180-250 performance mode.

Originally, I bought a 1080 back in 2018 or so. I really loved it. Maxed out every game. After a while, through the used market I switched to a 1080 Ti and the upgrade was insane (30% performance). Just now, I managed to sell my 1080 Ti as in 2024 it started to show its age even in 1080p ultrawide. I play with a 75hz monitor so I needed 75 fps at all times. Absolute beast of a card still and I hope the 5000 series is going to have a similar gem of a card if the rumors are true about the performance of the new series. In the meantime, I switched to an RX 6700 XT for a 15-25% performance gain based on given game. I managed to buy one under market value so basically, the switch was free.

Had this EVGA 1080 on a 2k monitor since it was new in 2018. Still going strong after upgrading the motherboard twice. Amazing card.

THE 1080 IS INSANE

I've had my 1080 Ti since 2018, currently watercooled with a +150 core and +100 memory OC. It's going to take a huge release to make me part ways with it in my main rig.

I'm currently in the process of buying a friend's old PC. The thing may not really run as smoothly as it did years ago, but a 1080 with an entire PC attached for 70 bucks seems like a very decent deal.

I have been wondering what I should do with my old cards. I have a Radeon HD 6950 and a EVGA GTX 1080. I remember getting the 1080 just before the bitcoin boom and my 500 USD card was up at times in the 1500$ range. Now I have been looking into throwing it into a media machine. Throwing it in with some cheap previous gen components and making a solid little NAS. Glad videos are still coming out on such a powerful little legend.

Greetings. I have had mine since new (2017), it is a Gigabyte Turbo, with the import prices and all that I think it was the best $830 invested in hardware, I had it first with an i7 7700K and 8GB of ram, I currently have it with it with a Ryzen 5 5500, 16GB of ram and an Asus Prime B550 Plus. Although these turbine designs are infamous for having higher temperatures than fan designs, the truth is that they have never suffered from too high temperatures (maximum 75 °C, with aggressive overclocking around 80 °C), however little by little I gradually improved its cooling in a personalized way: I added a 90mm high pressure fan in the casing just in front of the turbine, I made an aluminum backplate with many fins and two 90mm fans identical to the first one I mentioned, finally I placed a 120mm fan on the outside of the case just behind the video card grille extracting hot air. All this has resulted in the fact that with the 2000mhz gpu overclock, 12000mhz vram and 925mv undervolt, before I had temperatures that sometimes slightly exceeded 80°C, now I have a little over 60°C, I think it's not bad at all. air cooling. I still play at 1440p most games on Ultra or at least High. I plan to replace it with a second-hand RTX3090 / Ti or if prices drop an RTX4070 Super / Ti Super

Got a sick deal on a Corsair 4000d with a gigabyte atx, 8700k, 2x8gb 3200mhz and 240mm corsair aio for $135 CAD. I managed to get a 1080 Ti for $130 CAD. I got a 240gb SSD for free along with a corsair 500w atx psu. Cant be happier with this budget build. As long as this pumps out 1080p 60 i won't spend any money until I get a good bargain on 2 or 4 tb NVMe.

Recently bought a GTX 1080 Ti EVGA FTW3 for my stepdad's birthday for £160 on eBay.

It was a bit dusty (clumps of dust in the fins and under the fans) furthermore it ran hot, really hot so I decided to take it apart and apply fresh thermal paste, also gave it a clean. Thermals are perfect now. Was hitting 80c quickly, now never exceeds 68c. It's been a great upgrade for him, coming from a 970. He loves it! (We also snagged an absolute BARGAIN on eBay the following week which upgraded his whole platform to AM4. A 5600x, Asus TUF B450M PRO-II & 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3600CL18 for £200 😱 that platform upgrade has been the game changer for him. He was on an i7 4790k. Happy days :)

I have a 5800X3D & 4080 Super but man am I impressed with his 5600X & 1080 Ti. He's got a 1440p 165hz monitor and most of the game he plays (mainly racing games as he's got a whole SIM setup thing going on) he's easily clearing 200fps most of the time

I still run 2 sli 1080's and the 2nd card even works on COD Black Ops 6 at 4k.

Nice video! Still worth getting I think. Very nice.

I have gotten my hands on a computer for 400$ two years ago. All was perfect skylake i7, 32gb RAM and decent cooling. Swapped the GPU to a GTX1080 I got for 100$.

All in all 500$ for a very performant experience is crazy. I'm runing Cyberpunk and RDR2 on 60fps on almost highest settings possible.

Will struggle with 4k monitor. But since my budget was tight it's no option anyway.

However I got an Occulus VR headset from a friend and the card manages even running both screen and headset flawlessly.

Had a blast in Sim mode of Warthunder or modded Assetto Corsa / Dirt 2 with VR.

Still running a $80 GTX1080 Gigabyte Gaming OC out in my garage PC paired with a 5600X/32gb 3200mhz Dual Rank/B550 Gigabyte DS3H/1tb SX8200 NVMe. It makes for a snappy shop PC and even can fire up a game on it for 60fps Ultrawide 1080p. Controller focused games usually. I have no plans to get rid of it as it's a smallish card that fits the case and was super cheap to buy. Just enough muscle for gaming and features like 4k decoding for streaming. Great card.
