Lemme just say that the Friday music is literally perfect.
Friday is a day of relief. Could be the last day of school or work, maybe a vacation was planned for the weekends, and, well it’s Friday. Everyone loves Friday.

THEY ALL SOUND LIKE THE 7 STAGES OF GRIEF

as time goes by you lose all hope to escape, similar isn’t it?
Monday could relate to not knowing how to feel, explained by its standard ness (shock, denial)
Tuesday is a more depressive version of Monday, showing remorse, you see (guilt, pain)
Wednesday has a more animated vibe to it, a more shaky feel, (anger, bargaining)
Thursday is the most depressive of them all, melancholic and not as animated as the others (depression)
Friday is a more hopeful song, as if things started to go better, you can see by it’s change of mood on 0:21 (the upward turn)
Saturday is a more “happy” version of Monday, meaning you finally started to accept that you’re stuck forever (reconstruction and working through)
Finally, sunday. You’ve finally accepted there is no escape from the infinite IKEA, and you become more comfortable with the idea of being there forever. Your mind is no longer full of problems.. (acceptance and hope)

At first listen, I thought this song was oddly unsettling, but when I listened to it more, it’s sounds so cheerful and happy, but still has its unsettling parts.

In my opinion the song at 0:21 really feels like it embodies despair and it makes me feel like the character we play as accepts how they will most likely not make it out of the ikea and doesn’t really try to escape anymore but survive for as long as they can instead.

You’ve placed the last pallet in your base. You feel complete, but only for a few seconds. You have all the food you could ever want. You have shelter. But somehow, you don’t feel complete. You are in singleplayer, and no one is here but you. It flickers to night and you rush in. You are safe, but bored. The night seems to drag on forever.

Finally, after years of being stuck in a loop of boredom and emptyness, you find a door. You see what you haven’t seen since you went to Ikea. The world. Green grass and trees and the sun and something other than endless isles of furniture. But one thing is wrong. Everywhere you look, you don’t see any cars or bikes or even people. But it’s weird because when you came here it was a crowded city square. You are still lonely. After years of living alone, you have crippling depression. You go back to the place where you were trapped, many years ago. It has the only remaining people. You know what will happen, but at this point, you don’t care as long as you can hear their voice… even if it’s the one of the thing trying to kill you.
