I used two small pieces of live rock from my local lfs, until i noticed Aptasis promptly took em out, no major issues so far, even upgraded to a 20 long. I will say a uv sterilizer is a man's best friend, also the rock you do have in tank currently and the sand for that matter, has all the bacteria you're looking for. It also never hurts though to slamm as much bio media as possible in your stump area as well.

I hate that I used live rock and got all the little pest. So be thankful you did it the way you did and try to add small pieces of colonized live rocks that are clean of pest. Don’t go grab some super big piece of live rock that can hide lots of pests.

I 💯 agree about using real live rock when starting a new tank. I have only ordered from two places and I would recommend Gulf Live rock.

Where are you getting Cipro now? I need some and can’t get without Rx now!! Help!

What were the directions for your Cipro treatment (both outside your main tank and then directly in the tank)?

Thats weird. I have used bottled bacteria with no known issues from it. Mb7 seens to work fir alot of people. Maybe you had some bad bacteria form and take over. I think its s good thing thing to add a little bit every week to keep up on the population

i stopped the reef hobby while i finished studying & while passing my board exam. that was 8 years ago. as soon as i passed, i got into looking for another tank. be careful with cipro as it is an antibiotic and will kill beneficial bacteria. adding some live rock along with dry rock i think is the way to go. but, looks like the tank looks good

I did kung fu corals in tank treatment which is a broad-spectrum treatment. It save my tank from a major stn/rtn episode

I did notice when some of my corals receed like my candy canes its because of higher phosphate levels and when I sort it they puff right back up! So maybe it might be a parameter. Once you know what causes it you can just assess your corals to see what's going on in the tank 🙂

Holy cow she’s alive, nice to finally take a gander at your tank again, don’t worry your doing just fine I’m still battling the dreaded aptasia but your tank still looks awesome 👍🏼

Bottled bacteria may help nitrification, but it does not help create a healthy biome at all. I know this to be fact because after hundreds of dollars of bottled bacteria from a variety of manufactures I had a Biomics test come back in the bottom 3 percentile; yikes.
