Just got the 2025 base! Its nice! Nothing special but at just under $25k, it’s a solid economy car. Great for our family car. AWD system was our main buying point. But all around it’s a good car. Rides nice, but yeah not sporty. Didn’t expect it to be though. I’ve got a modified 2008 Corolla and a BMW 1 series if I want something sporty to drive. Safe and comfortable for the wife and baby? The legacy is a good choice! Camry was out next choice but would have came in around $32k for the LE in AWD…with similar APR. We got the 3.9%. Not great, but not terrible for this current economy, unfortunately.. I think if they could have bumped it from 182 hp and 176 ft lbs of torque, to about 200 and 190, respectively, it would subdue some of the criticism on power. Bringing the 0-60 down as much as half a second. While keeping mpg about the same. Some tuning involved. If they bumped it to 220 and 200, that’d be perfect for what it is and putting it in solid competition with the Camry. While having the superior AWD system. Losing still in fuel efficiency, but it’s not a hybrid. I suppose 220hp would put it a bit too close to the Sport, for Subaru’s liking. But could use a similarly set up/tuned as the BRZ. Especially if they’d use the Port/Direct injection system. That’d be a dream system to have in this car! Even if it was only tuned to 200hp, 190 torque, but with that injection system, I’d be thrilled. Best of both worlds and better for longevity.
Trunk space is rather big. Sure an suv has more, but it then puts cargo in the cabin. Potential dangers in an accident. Especially seeing most people don’t properly secure cargo in their vehicles. So I prefer a trunk(boot for the Brits lol).
Handling is, numb and light but not too light. Not as heavy as my 1 series. Which is good for city and highway driving. Though in the mountains we live in, it still handles well. Doesn’t carve like a sports car, but it’s not a sports car. Fun and responsive enough for a pleasure drive in the mountains. Braking is actually really good. Pedal is firm and responsive. Under the hood is labeled well and easy setup for maintenance. Overall it’s a solid, family sedan. If you want luxury, go with Lexus. If you want fast, which this is not, go with a true sports car. Or maybe go with the turbo. But turbos have trade offs for that increase power.. This car isn’t fast, but I also don’t think it’s slow. It’s acceptable for what it is. The CVT could definitely be improved like Toyota, or just put a 6 speed auto in like Mazda. It’s not that it’s a bad transmission. It’s probably a good CVT. But a CVT has its drawbacks. Rubber band feel is the main one along with that lag at times. But a moderate pull at highway speed and it wakes up well enough. CVT wasn’t a deal breaker, but also isn’t ideal. All in all, I give it a 4, maybe a 4.5 out of 5 for what it is. And a 3.5 for its class against the competition. 3.5 mainly due to the power train points I discussed. Interior and comfort are solid 4s in general. And ride comfort of suspension and noise, solid 4s as well. Cabin tech is a 3.5-4. Feeling of safety, 5 out of 5! Happy with our purchase! Hoping it holds up a few decades with meticulous maintenance!(I'm a tech)!

my 2015 Legacy has given me absolutely no issues to date. Just regular oil changes for the engine, differential, transmission and break fluid. Everything seems to be holding up very well. The only minor thing I noticed is that I need to top up some engine oil, say 3 months after I do the oil change. But I did not have this issue when the dealer did my oil change while my car still under warranty. I used mobile synthetic and my car has 120K Km.

Definitely not forgotten! My favorite car as a kid was a green 1999 Subaru Legacy, green with a spoiler, only because my uncle drove it and I looked up to him. Literally use "Legacy" as a screenname all the time still.

I have a 2024 Legacy and absolutely hate it. It's the worst car I have ever owned.
