This is called submerged arc welding correct?, I've only seen a few videos of it but it's super interesting

We use a carbon rod in the oil holes to keep from welding the oil holes up. Also wondering why not hold the rear of the crank? Does that help it from bending?

It is called submerged arc welding and the sand is the flux

I would think he would use some ceramic tape over the oil passages to insure no flux works its way into places it is not wanted.
