Remote ID Relief Coming, but Nothing in Writing...

@FAAnews #remoteid #drone
The FAA's David Boulter made a statement last week about the intent of Remote ID Broadcast requirements being postponed, or at least the enforcement of such requirements, but we are now days before the long-awaited deadline and there is no official statement.

The White House did make an announcement that maybe threw their Comms team into a frenzy, but in the meantime, this other really important press release seems to have been delayed again.

Will relief come tomorrow? If not, then when? If you want to watch my other coverage of this, check the Remote ID Playlist on the channel homepage.

Dear sweet Lady the FAA has yet to make manufacturers obey the Final Rule and nearly a year they still have not and most do not intend to. So how then can they force the consumer to comply when the products they buy are Not RID Compliant ?
Same goes for CBO club fliers who get a pass because they are in a FRIA while anyone else who is Not a CBO member is discriminated against and forced to be under surveillance?
You see there are still laws in this Country that gives citizens rights that no one can take away nor deny, not Congress, not their bureaucracies etc, regardless of what they try and claim
This will at some point if the FAA try to enforce this fiasco, end up in a court room where those Rights will come into play
The very suggestion of Remote ID on citizens who refuse to join a club/CBO ( which the Government and their FAA has stated they can NOT force CBO membership) nor can they Force anyone to follow their suggested guides, it is simply illegal to imply
That would be no different then Congress mandating Seniors to join AARP or a Religious based organization, it is just not in their ability to do so.
And since the Courts in the Carpenter v US case showed that GPS tracking, data collecting and sharing already violates every citizens 4th Amendment rights why does Congress or the FAA think doing the same to a select group who happen to use a RC Toy changes those rights ?
Both cases involve cell phones, GPS tracking, data collecting and sharing that info across several entities. What makes the RID worse is it allows EVERYONE with a cell phone to have a drone operator under surveillance . It violates privacy rights and with Government and Law enforcement doing the same it causes the conflict of the 4th Amendment it is a open violation of a warrantless search, it is that simple
SO as we know the FAA is clueless of the hobby and those who sat with the FAA who claimed to speak for recreational operators, did nothing to make the rules work for the Community., but instead allowed the FAA to make nonsensical rules NONE of us can follow .
And far worse is the fact the majority of the community still refuse to stand up and take the FAA to task to prove their rules cause a safer airspace, a more secure Nation and will eliminate the many deaths, property damages and injuries we see daily in the Manned Aviation Industry. And zero risk assessments, Zero, drone v manned aircraft issues etc etc Plus how can they prove that RID is no different than what the Federal Government feared that caused them to ground their own drones because they were under GPS tracking, data collection and sharing they now have pushed to the consumer / Citizen .
SO many avenues of attack, many avenues of change and yet here we are Sept 12th and most of the community in silence and the few YT Guru's bowing and giving in for the mighty dollar .
So question truly is why are so many so easily willing to give up their RIGHTS ?
And then an other question must be WHY did Brennan/RDQ not appeal and why have they gone completely silent and are now MIA ? Were they threatened ? were they afraid of losing their pilot licenses ? No One knows because they refuse to speak....SO....that says volumes in and of itself !!!

Hi Hopscotch, well, you got your relief; sort of. The Sept. 16, 2023 date is still the date. On the other hand, the FAA will be using discretionary enforcement through March 16, 2024 which you probably know as this information is now out in the wild. After March 16, 2024, it is Game On. The discretionary enforcement seems to be on whether or not the pilot has tried (ordered?) remote ID or has a drone that should be compliant from the manufacturer such as DJI. So, there you have it. Relief.

A good way for the FAA to help pilots, is to leave them alone!

Greetings from your friends at the FAA. We're here to help you.
We're maybe going to give you "relief!" ... [but, maybe not]
... from something we imposed on you in the first place ...
but, we will not tell you what that "relief" actually is ...
or when it may occur ...
... but, we will give you disingenuous winks and nods! ...
... and tea leaves to stir and read ...

Just remember ... we're in charge here ... and we're the folks that approved the 737 MAX to fly. 🙂 Have a good day.

I was going to put this under the other person's comment, but it deserves to be right up front as it seems to be a common misconception: I have been following this since the beginning which was actually started about 4 years ago. Yeah! In all that time, I NEVER saw anything where the FAA said that the effective date would be pushed back. The whole concept of pushing the date back or cancelling remote ID has been TOTALLY and COMPLETELY instigated by and offered by the YouTube Remote ID dissenter voices. All of these RANTS and Complaints (at the last minute by the way) have been HOPING for a push back of the effective date, however, the FAA NEVER SAID that they would push it back. Go back and watch all of the FAA interviews. The date pushback is simply the idea that YouTube rants where the YouTubers were suggesting and hoping for. Many of those Rants where suggesting that "THEY" (the drone community) could get the date pushed back simply because the "community" wanted it. Think about it. Where were all of these RANTS 3 years ago, where was the support when RDQ sued the FAA over Remote ID. RDQ LOST !! Moreover, where is the FAA's document saying that the date would be pushed back or even an FAA representative that has said the date would be moved back. See if you can find it. Did Kevin Morris EVER say that the effective date would be pushed back?? Where??

It is in writing now at least it's published. However it's useless since it's only they postpone enforcement. So insurance has a reason to not cover any incidents. Just telling people they aren't going to get a ticket doesn't mean it's legal or they can't be liable because of it. DJI not upgrading firmware is one thing. The problem is people who self build or have open source platforms with lots invested that suddenly can't fly. Can't even comply. They said the modules would cost $50. More like $300. It's a travesty on the people who built the technology and not just a restriction on business but a taking of rights. Its class g airspace. It's not supposed to be regulated by faa. A kid who buys a toy and flys it below the trees is breaking federal law. What a joke. The FAA and people that forced this through on false pretences should be ashamed. Referring to it as a licence plate is a total falsehood also. Let's attach a module to their car that shows their name, address, licence number, and where they just left and how fast they are going. That's more accurate of a representation.

I completely agree that none of the statements by FAA officals means anything unless a official memo comes out that legally supports an extension or delay.

Im personally a bit of a procrastinator and sometimes wait till the last minute to get things done (although I usually do meet my deadlines 🙂). However for the FAA to be waiting till the last minute for this is very frustrating. Hopefully we will hear something. Id say continuing to voice concerns directly to the FAA is probably the best thing to do. Each and every email they receive keeps the pressure on and is a good paper trail for anyone who is challenged (like you with your Mavic 2 Pro) and doing their best to stay on top of this. Im guessing its going to be down to the very last minute. Thanks for keeping the updates coming. Very much appreciated.

The definitive answer is that RID is required on Sept. 16, 2023. What is NOT definitive is whether or not the FAA will "slide" enforcement. They might leave the date, but simply delay "enforcement", YET, that is not definitive. Maybe consider how to deal with the Sept 16, 2023 date; what can you do, not do, are willing to risk...or not. Yes, it is challenging for businesses since every drone will need its own module. I wonder if anyone has considered "Packaging" CubePilot into a standalone package? Hmmm.

This really is the biggest problem and why the FAA is not doing a good job at all in this roll out of remote Id. By giving us this date and then turning around and saying oh well now it's gonna be pushed back while it's great for people who haven't been able to get there modules yet, for the people that have shoveled out the hundreds of dollars to get there drones legal are going to look at these rules as a big joke. By the time they do have to comply they are not going to take any of it seriously. And to be honest why should they they did everything they were supposed to shoveled out a ridiculous amount of money just to find out that the FAA can't even keep there word on a date. Or there gonna wait till prices fall! These rules will never be taken seriously and this will ultimately end up failing.

I still say remote Id is just not enforceable out in the country where I can fly 40 years and only see a cow and a crow. If you had a transmitter no one would be close enough to pick up the signal. Waste of time and money. We have a lot of areas with no phone data.

Thanks for making this video. To me RID is a safety issue because it gives the drone operators exact physical location that could lead to some being ambushed, harassed, assaulted, robbed or worse.

I am curious about something. You have a company that has used drones for years and you have Part 107 pilots, correct? Yet, you only heard about Remote ID about a year ago, correct? So, no one in your company knew about Remote ID, that it was in the making, and that the due date was approaching? I would think that someone would have been on top of this and that the company would have been prepared for it.
Just a thought.

Hopefully the regulation will be canceled.A model airplane club I visited yesterday is requiring all model airplanes to be registered with the FAA.
