BAD BOY - THE BEATLES (Larry Williams cover)

This is my cover of "Bad Boy", but it's also a response to some messages that I've been getting here on YouTube. A few people have commented on two issues: 1) not singing in the original key as the Beatles, and 2) not having a good "rock and roll" voice. Anyways, the honest truth is that if I really wanted to, I could sing in those higher keys, I just try not to so I can save my voice. Regardless, just for all of you, I did this in the original key of C and screamed it out. The whole recording is pretty much live for the most part, take 1 on the instruments, with the exception of double tracked vocals and lead guitar. I hope my "rock and roll voice" is good enough for this song. Hopefully more rockers to come in the future! Thanks for watching, and enjoy!

I love your "rock and roll" voice! You sounds like John in the screamy songs!

The first thing to remember is not listen to the critics! You are doing an exceptionally good job on the Beatle tunes. As a musician myself - you do not need to apologize for what you are doing. You have a great natural voice and feel for the music. Keep doing what you're doing with no explanations to anyone! Experiment and continue to follow your heart - that's what all great artists do! I want to hear more.

I honestly think it's a great cover of the song. ^_^ It's nice to see that people still want to make covers of my granddad songs. We are working now to get a little movie done about him.

"Not a good rock & roll voice"? They must have too much wax in their ears! Nick, your voice is MUCH better than most. I say let THEM try it. As far as key goes, John Lennon messed around with keys, tuning down and slowing down tapes so he could do the same thing - make his voice sound as good as possible. Keep up the good work and keep The Beatles' memory alive!!

Tremendous! My only comment is STOP listening to other people's opinion of your vocal and musical abilities as you have no idea how credible or educated they are. I listen to people ALL THE TIME who criticize John Lennon's voice so, if they complain about yours, take it as a compliment!

As far as changing the key, people will never understand that many artists ... including The Beatles ... change the keys to their own songs as they are composing them. They do this for the same reason they also change the keys to songs they cover ... to suit and protect their voices!

My God, before The Beatles, EVERYONE changed the keys because most songs were written by songwriters who didn't even know who was going to sing the songs they were writing.

Oh, and as far as Bad Boy is concerned, Larry Williams did the song in A# and The Beatles RAISED it to C!!!

BTW: I love your version but, I'd love to hear your single tracked mix of this. The Beatles chose a single tracked vocal specifically to feature the intricacies of John's vocal delivery. The Beatles did, however, double-track George's lead guitar work.

Oh, and one more thing, I did my own version of this song today!!!

Nick, I hope You have nothing against I put You as a pre-singer / a link to this page ! I used to listen this piece since I was about eight  years old in 1965 (Lennon's version) and last week I bought a new set of strings (a guitar one, I mean) for some a reason. Tuomari - The Judge !
