I'm honored to share this instrumental recreation with all of you, because it features two legendary Beatles tribute band musicians Dom Rossi and Grant Gerlach!

I've been meaning to cover Bad Boy for a long time. George Harrison played his Gretsch Tennessean and I wanted to recreate his lead guitar parts. But it also includes John Lennon's Rickenbacker 325 rhythm guitar, which I do not own

Luckily, I am friends with @DRguitar918 and @mendips09 who are part of the amazing Beatles tribute band @beatologytribute
If you haven't subscribed to Dom's Youtube channel, you are missing out! He is an incredibly talented musician. Case in point, he is right-handed but learned to play bass lefty...

Grant can play just about any instrument and he can nail John's rhthym guitar style on his Rickenbacker 325, so we just had to include him. And thus the Bad Boys were born!

Bad Boy was a song written by Larry Williams and covered by the Beatles in 1965. It was originally only released in the US on the album Beatles VI. Larry Williams also wrote Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Slow Down and Short Fat Fannie.

The original lineup was
Paul- Hofner Bass, Hohner Pianet C
Ringo- Ludwig Drums, Tambourine
John- Vocals, Rickenbacker 325, Vox Continental Organ
George- Gretsch Tennessean

The Bad Boys lineup-
Sam- Gretsch Tennessean, Hohner Pianet T, Drums
Grant- Rickenbacker 325, Tambourine, Organ
Dom- Hofner Bass

We learned some interesting facts about this song, with the help of @DLD2Music who gave us the isolated tracks to study. We discovered that in addition to Paul's Pianet electric piano part, there is a fast Vox Organ part played by Lennon during the guitar solo. We also learned that George used a volume pedal during the solo on one of his Tennesseans

thats sounds exactly like the original. Now with the vocals from the original you can not tell the difference!!

Excellent! This is a rocker that usually gets passed by a lot of cover videos and bands but I always saw it as one of John’s best rock vocals. I imagine it’s how it might have sounded when they had Roy Young or little Billy Preston with them in Hamburg.

The subtle nuances on the Gretsch double track are sublime, very well done Sam I Am.

Fantastic! A great rocker that unfortunately gets overlooked. I even like how the tracks are mixed just like they are on the record. It’s truly like listening to the original track without vocals. You all really hit it out of the park with this one!

Sounds great! Request more 1964, early 1965 Beatles please. Top of their live game IMO.

Great lead guitar part! Simple and tasteful. I hate to throw this word around, but I find myself ding it a lot on these videos. Underrated.

Awesome - a thumping rocker w/o vocals! John's rhythm and George's double-track lead! Thanks for sharing.

Fabulous, herculean job! In Beauties' cover of Bad Boy, I miss the deep voice that says "He's a... Bad boy" after Larry Williams sings each line
