Objectives:
• Describe the spectrum of group A streptococcal disease, with a particular focus on invasive group A streptococcal (iGAS) disease.
• Review the approach to management of iGAS, including antimicrobial management and adjunctive measures.
• Understand the changing epidemiology of iGAS both locally and globally, and highlight potential factors driving an increase in cases.
• Describe iGAS prevention measures, including infection control considerations, contact management, and the status of vaccine research.

McMaster University’s, Department of Medicine Grand Rounds (MGR), combined with Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, is held on rotation every Thursday from 8:00AM - 9:00AM via ‘Zoom’ and uploaded to our channel weekly.
