How are train tracks laid?

Trains are an energy-efficient and environmental friendly mode of transit. Trains run on steel rails. Laying steel rails require preparation of land and selection of appropriate materials. Here I explain in a very simplified way, how railway tracks are laid.

I cannot imagine any human endeavor what would require more of the hardest and most demanding of all-weather, outdoor, dawn to dusk, physical labor than to lay railroad tracks by hand, especially hundreds of miles of track across the entire 1800's United States. Imagine about 2200 crossties to lay and 17, 600 spikes to drive per mile, at 8 spikes to the tie, one hammer blow at a time.

It is a very good video/animation. Thanks. Nevertheless, in order to be friendly with trees, I suggest that trees will be replaced instead of being cut off or take out completed from this video. This appears to be an insignificant detail but is not. (There are some railway projects with opposition precisely because of cutting off trees, for example, The "Maya Train" in Mexico).
