Motor control and its Effects on Sound and Vibration for NVH Engineers (and others)

Electric motors in vehicle applications are powered by a variable frequency inverter. These inverters have switching frequencies in the 10's of kilohertz which causes audible noise, but the inverter also causes electrical harmonics. These electrical harmonics can be manifested as order based noise and vibration. This video will describe the operation and phenomena that can cause sound and vibration in electric machines.
