This song has a tribute to a soldier that most people didn't catch when listening as its kind of an Easter egg for those who listen to it: Dan Daly (Yes this is a true name) is a soldier who joined the US Marine during its time of need for soldiers as they entered the Great War, upon getting stuck in he immediately made a large impact for moral and during the offensive mentioned in this song, there is a core position the Germans held already dug in, there was a farm field between them and the enemy position, the wrath of German machine-gun and rifle teams were relentless causing massive casualties (Casualties reference wounded and dead), most of the command was taken out of the fight. The soldier mentioned earlier this paragraph named Dan Daly took charge of the situation and stood up while machine-gun fire clipped young wheat and ripped bark off trees around and above his head, with a battle-cry worthy yell he stated: "Come on you sons of bitches, do you want to live forever?" and fearlessly charged the enemy battle line, those in the trench in straight fear charged the enemy position overpowering the MG nests and there rifle teams claiming the core vantage for the battle-zone and securing the much needed break threw into enemy lines.
As with a big record for the US Marine is a faction known as "Devil Dogs" because they are basically first in and last out attitude with get the job done right the first time attitude, they fight to the bitter end to get there objectives, they are relentless and dealing with the "Devil Dogs" cant be met half-heartedly. In WW2 they were the core of all USA landing assaults, from D-Day to Okinawa, even to the battlefields in Italy. The "Devil Dogs" pushed for a breech and made grand assaults, to this day they still do such actions. Thus I do believe its more appropriate to say they will not lose the "Devil Dogs" title
Sabaton History covered a lot of there songs in history segment, but there is also there partner channel known as "The Great War" and there co-host used to be the leader of that show, however hes since switched to the WW2 title, you can view his story covering the soldier mentioned in this song (Dan Daly) via that channel and see the bravery of such soldiers, there is also York from 82nd all the Way that's also covered by Sabaton History, I'd suggest these songs as they speak of how we have memorized units by the "Heroes and Heroic actions" undertaken by specific units or people.

Thanks for reacting to this song. And if you want a lyric heavy sabaton song. With it's long title. "The end of the war to end all wars"

Marines still go by "Devil Dogs" today. Matter of fact if you hear the popular use of "dog" men use to address each other that actually came from Marines who have used it to address each other for decades. The Battle of Belleau Wood was the turning point for the Marine Corps who were an extremely small service and still the smallest today within DoD. The reputation grew from WWI then into WWII and on from their famous battles fighting brutal enemies. Dan Daly entered the Marine Corps in 1899 and served 30 years. Marines prefer to be referred to as Marine when addressing them vice Soldier since there is a difference in mission and training. Many of the Marines who survived WWI as officers and non-commissioned officers went on to serve and lead Marines in WWII. The Marine Corps leans heavily on experience in its ranks often promoting NCO's to the officer ranks and experienced junior enlisted to senior NCO in order to have continuity in the ranks for the next war which is always on the horizon for Marines. They have the lowest officer to enlisted ratio on any US Service by design.

The Marines were labeled ‘Devil Dogs’ by German soldiers because of their ferocity in combat.... I recommend watching Sabaton’s history channel
