STANDING IN THE NEED OF PRAYER
Trad, arranged by Carolyn Arends

It’s me, it’s me, O Lord
Standing in the need of prayer
Oh it’s me, it’s me, O Lord
Standing in the need of prayer

It’s me, it’s me, O Lord
Standing in the need of prayer
Yes it’s me, it’s me, O lord
Standing in the need of prayer

Not my father, not my mother, but it’s me Lord
Standing in the need of prayer
Not my sister, not my brother, but it’s me, O Lord
Standing in the need of prayer

Chorus

Not my neighbor not my teacher, but it’s me, O Lord
Standing in the need of prayer
Not the deacon, not the preacher, it’s just me O Lord
Standing in the need of prayer

Chorus

It’s me, it’s me, O Lord
Standing in the need of prayer
Oh it’s me, it’s me, O Lord
Standing in the need of prayer

Chorus

Fascinating to hear what to my ears is such a melancholy arrangement of this song. I remember this from Methodist youth groups in the 70s, and it was always sung in an upbeat, bouncy style.

Love this version. Great for leading into prayer. Good to hear the way the the violin is used to reinforce the message

Both are beautiful versions! The raw feel of the live version was very moving . That violin was amazing!

Both are wonderful. I think my vote goes to the studio version by a hair. It really brings out the lovely subtleties in her voice.

Carolyn, both are very enjoyable. The studio version encapsulates a reflective take on this song with great dynamics and great backup vocals. Nice work!

I was wondering why there was no standing ovation on "bootleg" edition ! AWEDOME as usual!
