I am excited for this, but one of the things that made the Monster Hunter franchise so great was how much it deviated from standard RPG mechanics. In that case, going back to turn-based strategy is an interesting choice to say the least.
Still, as long as it's a FUN Final Fantasy-style, then I suppose it will all work out.

I think the series has become popular on the 3ds by now to warrant localizing a spinoff.

But then again Capcom did cancel MML3 and Did not port Lost planet Ex troopers.

Monster Hunter has always been an RPG series built around the iconic Boss Fight of video games.

So to see one taking a more traditional approach to RPG gameplay is an interesting change, and one that I hope will bring more Hunters into the fray.

I'll wait for it's release and reception to make any judgements on the game itself, but I think this should be a welcome addition to the series.

Especially if it means that the MMO games will eventually get stateside.

Holy crap i always dreamed of having a pet monster in the monster hunter series, even though its in a spin-off, the system is designed so well that the monster pets fit perfectly.

I'm okay with turn-based games but the reason why I love the Monster Hunter series it's for its action-packed gameplay while also being strategic about the monsters' incoming attacks. Though I wouldn't mind it coming to the US but still...
