New Features Introduced in the New Version 5 HMI Firmware Upgrade

With the introduction of the version 5 HMI firmware, a revamped interface display is introduced to the NOVA Voyager DVR Drill Press.

• Completely redesigned user interface display with more intuitive menus
• Switch between “Set Speed” and “Set Depth” adjustment modes straight from the main screen
• “Precision” mode has been introduced, allowing users to set the target depth in finer increments
• Fractional display for imperial units have been introduced
• “Stop & Reverse for 6 seconds”, A new Digital Depth Stop function has been added
• A new F-button shortcut is now available which can be used to set the current depth reading as your target depth
• The password function can now be used to lock most settings in the menu but still let user operate the machine
• A new Power Spindle Hold mode has been introduced for keyless chuck users
• Custom drill press speed limit and output power limit can now be set
• Custom drill press speed limit and output power limit can now be set

I wish they would make a similar video for the Viking drill press. I tried to update the firmware but the software never recognized the drill press.

Ever tried to contact nova? Forget it. This is the most ridiculous and complicated procedure for a simple upgrade.

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the settings for the Self Start?

Out of the box it appears to be around half an inch before it will Self Start

It is a great drill press, but they could not have come up with a more complicated upgrade process. They assume woodworkers have a laptop PC... Pulling cables from a circuit boards is not a good idea, if you have to do that be very careful. The way this process should be is to plug in a thumb drive containing the upgrade image then turn on the machine. It detects the upgrade software and upgrades the machine. Luckily, I have an older laptop which should work.... Thumbs up for the drill press, thumbs down on the upgrade process.

Why is this upgrade not dealer installed? Or a flash drive  auto loader?

What is the latest upgrade. I just purchased my drill press but it states that is was made in 2017 with the upgrade ver. 8.21c. R2P05x

I got up to 4:19 in your video and that's where my problems started. After I plugged in the cable and did the key pressing/releasing routine, the "Available DFU Devices" box never populated. I tried several times from scratch and that is as far as I can get. Would you have any suggestions to offer?
