When I was f2p (AR 56), I played Kaeya, Xingqiu, and Bennett with a flexible spot (Xiangling, Diluc, Qiqi, etc.)
Kaeya has pretty high base attack and I found him to be super fun to play and mained him for a long time.

I had Venti, Zhongli, Yae Miko, and Ayaka as an f2p. I am now a Welkin player. I got sucked into the meta and did not enjoy the game anymore. I became impatient and wanted all the things. It really is more about who you like to play and who you spend time building. I have Kaeya at C4 now (exchanged him twice in store), 10-11-10 and he deals more damage than a lot of my five stars🙈

My starter team comp was strange when I think about it now. It used to be a all claymore team with Beidou, Chongyun, Xinyan and Noelle. I don't recommend anyone use this team comp 😅.

For the longest time I ran ameno traveler, Xiangling, Fischel and Noelle. Thunder bird, fire panda then maxed out swirl was a great combo that cleared most enemies with ease. And C3 Noelle shield popping up when you were low hp to squeeze out a bit more damage. I'm now working on new teams because of channels like this making me see how great my unused 5 stars are even without any CR. By the time I started getting lucky and pulling them my main team was already around lv 60 and I didn't have any adv notes to spare to raise someone else to catch up to them and be useful.

Here is another good f2p team:

•barbara (or kokomi), dendro traveler, lisa, and collei (if you dont have collei, you could add another hydro char or a shielder) this team includes hyperbloom, electro charge, quicken and agrivate. if you decide to put a hydro char instead of collei or other demdro char, it increases HP and you will be affected by pyro for 40% less time. collei or any other dendro would be very benificial seeing as if there are 2 dendro chars it increase EM. all of these chars are generally easy to get, good luck! I use this team for like eveything, and it is very effective 😌

My team is literally so random, and I rarely pay attention to elemental reactions so I just play Wich ever character is fun to me
So usually I use some of these
Yoimiya/Childe as main DPS (when my ganyu is properly built she'll be a main DPS too)
Kaeya/Tighnari just because
Albedo/Fischl(if I do try to use elemental reactions)/ currently ganyu all as supports
Barbara
Barbara never leaves my team
Live, love, Barbara

a particularly good f2p team imo would be like this, I'm open to any discussions/ammendments in them :)
1. xiangling, Fischl, Barbara and denro traveller
2. xiangling, kaeya, Barbra and anemo mc
3. Collie, dendro mc, Barbra and Fischl/Lisa
other free characters could be mixed and matched in the same way keeping in mind the artifacts and what type of enemy you're up against... meta is sometimes fun ngl
