Neil Oliver: 'We're not hearing from the broken people'

Archaeologist Neil Oliver has called for more “spotlight” to be put on the lives of people suffering from the impact of coronavirus restrictions.

Speaking with talkRADIO’s Mike Graham, the broadcaster said: “We’re not hearing from the broken people…because we’re not looking at them and hearing from them, we’re being encouraged to think we’re all in it together and these are the necessary steps.

“The population’s mental health is being battered and pummelled, and just because you’re not seeing those people who are being destroyed by this,m doesn’t mean they’re not out there.”

Hopes for an end to the coronavirus pandemic have been raised with the rollout of the first vaccine to the most vulnerable, but people are being warned to stick to the rules and “not blow it” in the months ahead.

I agree with Neil, we are not seeing the people whose lives have been destroyed by all this.

I'm with Neil. This is just insanity. Who wants to be Covid-free living in a poverty stricken dystopian world where people are left with nothing but loneliness, mistrust and misery?

Should more spotlight be put on people suffering under coronavirus restrictions?

The UK public are utterly pathetic. You see the French and Germans standing up and protesting by the hundred thousand. Not here.
Only at the end will they understand.

I'm single, self employed and in a shared house with 4 walls to look at. The first lockdown, I spent 10 weeks looking at them 4 walls and when your in that really start thinking about things that you shouldn't be thinking about. I always thought that I was strong minded and I do like my own company but everyone's got a breaking point and I've felt like breaking a few things (glad I wasn't anywhere near Hancock's neck). I'm just glad I've got decks, decent music and some understanding neighbours. stay strong people. Peace🤍

There are plenty of protests in cities everywhere in the land just ignored by he media and many attacked by the political police force, also ignored by this government.

Neil's take on all of this makes me feel less alone. I'm profoundly worried about where this is all heading. Like Neil and I suspect like many others, I feel completely hemmed in and claustrophobic. The extent to which the masses have been brainwashed and appear to have no degree of independent thinking whatsoever in this country is deeply, deeply disturbing

I'd go beyond horrible and use the word evil.

Shawshank Redemption quote
"I’m telling you, these walls are funny, first you hate them, then you get used to them, enough time passes, it gets so you depend on them, that’s institutionalized."

The saddest thing for me is seeing very small children wearing masks. They don't die from CV and there is evidence they do not pass it on. Just screwing them up. Horrible.

I can’t think of a single person who sums this up as clearly as Neil does. Utterly brilliant.

Mike, all the reasons you gave for enjoying a restaurant, pub, being around people, hearing noise etc, is the reason its being taken away

It saddens me to see free men and women muzzled.

Call me old fashioned but I don't like breathing in my own carbon dioxide .

Neil, I feel you’re heartbreak at the tragic nature of the zoom Christmas parties or any other synthesis of humanity !! I find it abhorrent and every fibre of my being rejects this new normal😢

The same here in the Netherlands. I disconnected myself from my fellow cityzens. Can't stand the stupid obedience.
I will never wear a mask! Be strong 👍
