The reason why a lot of people use home made pieces is because they’re usually underaged and cannot buy glass legally from a smoke shop. A lot of states have changed the smoking age from 18 to 21. It kinda blew my mind that I could get a med card at 18 in California but couldn’t legally buy anything to smoke it out of unless it was sold at the dispo itself until I was 21

Basically my approach was as long as the heat wasn't causing vaporization of toxic chemicals I felt good to go. Keep them lungs healthy my friends. My first go around was that clasicccc can though, so many memories with those fresca cans

My buddy had me smoking window screen one time he was all like yeah bro I have a bunch of screen in my dads garage

One thing with aluminum foil people use it for grilling to wrap corn and stuff and if that’s fine wouldn’t smoking out of it be fine?

Apple was like my first time…..buddies told me if I ate the apple after you get super baked so I took a huge chunk out of it and they all died laughing lol good times 😂

he's definitely right. I've smoked for years out of what is commonly known as a ghetto blaster. a 20 oz bottle with a wrench socket in the side with a hole for a choke. though it's a safe design as far as not burning or melting the plastic when you smoke, it still gave me issues.

the socket being so small and then packing it with bud would restrict the airflow so much that over time it started to give me issues breathing. it's like trying to suck a cork through a straw, but with smoke too.

I'd only recommend using homemade devices in a pinch and only temporarily. it's so easy to get things now, it's just not worth the risk.

The only reason I have used a homeade bong before, is because you have to be 21 to buy a legit one. I actually made one out of a mason jar. You poke holes in the top metal lid, and the bowl and downstem was a bullet shell and a part of one of those metal straws. It worked great, no plastic smoke.

My boy and I once used a medium sized Poland spring water bottle, a incense burner cone thing (metal piece) some hot glue and a straw for a homemade bong. We also ubered a 40 piece chicken nugget meal from McDonald's that night.

It isn't just about the aluminum/plastic, it's about all of the chemicals on the surface of foil and plastic that are "food safe" at normal temperatures but will off-gas at hundreds of degrees
