Two things! Some universities do require physics to get into act sci so please just check your uni requirements before you drop it!

Important Announcement for Business Science (BusSci) Students at UCT

Attention: Current 3rd-year students on the Business Science degrees, and 1st and 2nd-year BusSci students.

Subject: Changes in Policy for Conversion from BusSci to BCom and Subsequent Honours Registration

Overview:

This announcement primarily affects current 3rd-year BusSci students but is also relevant for 1st and 2nd-year students as these changes will impact you in the future.
Previous Policy:

Previously, students in their final year of BusSci could convert to a BCom and register for Honours, transferring all passed credits from their final year to the Honours record.
New Policy for Current 3rd-year Students (and Future Cohorts):

If you fail any course in your final year:
You can still transfer to a BCom and graduate.
This will result in automatic de-registration from all other 4th-year courses for the rest of the year if you change before the year's end.
If you remain in BusSci after failing a course and complete the year, only up to 50% of the degree's credits can be transferred to your Honours record. This may require you to repeat modules or register for unrelated 4th-year modules.
Risks and Recommendations:

Failing a final-year module in BusSci can lead to complications, such as:
Inability to complete the degree.
Inefficient credit transfer.
We strongly recommend changing to the BCom degree and then returning for the Honours degree upon graduation. Benefits include:
Two degrees (BCom and Honours) instead of one (BusSci).
Fewer courses, allowing more focus on exemption-bearing courses.
Actuarial employers prioritize exemptions over the degree name.
Avoiding issues with faculty rules that could prevent degree completion.
Options:

You may choose to remain in BusSci and repeat a failed module if you haven't previously extended your degree.
You are not obliged to change, but be aware that the faculty cannot assist if you face issues related to the new rules in future years.
