Excerpts From The Oriel March

Показать описание
Baineann an dá fhonn seo le Máirseáil Oirialla, sraith foinn a cumadh faoi anáil an cheantair agus a oidhreacht. Tagraíonn an port "Cnoic is Mánna" do Mhá Mhór Mhuirtheimhne ar an mbealach chuig Sléibhte Chuaille, Cnoc Fhochairde, Bealach an Mhaighre (Mám an Tuaiscirt) agus Sliabh gCuillinn - áiteanna atá fite fuaite le tírdhreach agus scéalta Oirialla. Tagraíonn an highland "Airm ag gluaiseacht" do laochra Méabh Chonnachta i dTáin Bhó Cuailgne.
Chum an Dr. Daithí Kearney Máirseáil Oirialla do Cheolfhoireann Traidisiúnta Oirialla i 2018.
These two tunes are part of 'The Oriel March', a suite of tunes inspired by the region and its heritage. The jig, 'Hills and Plains' refers to the great plain of Muirthemne that lead to the Cooley Mountains, Hill of Faughart, Gap of the North and Sliabh Gullion, all of which are integral to the geography and stories of Oriel. The highland 'Advancing Armies' is a reference to the warriors of Queen Meadhbh of Connacht in the great legend An Táin Bó Cuailnge.
The Oriel March was composed by Dr. Daithí Kearney for the Oriel Traditional Orchestra in 2018.
