I often praise oblivion for it's amazing quests, but let's be honest, Oblivion has some really terrible quests. So today I am going to take a look at the 5 worst.

The trick in Clavicus's quest is that the sword of Umbra is amazing, while the mask he is giving you is crap

The "trick" is that Umbra is a bad ass sword, and he tricked you into giving it to him in exchange for a worthless helmet.

Oh, I remember that vampirism quest very well. When I gave all the ingredients needed to make a cure, the witch told me that she needs time and I have to come back later. So, I stepped outside, only to find out that it was morning and I was on the last stage of vampirism. I began to die very quickly, couldn't fast travel anywhere, so my only option was to come back to the witch house. But the best part was when I hit "wait" button, the game informed me, that I "cannot wait in this location". Yeah...

Wait, do other people not obsessively use speechcraft to make every single NPC adore them?

it's even worse in the german version because of a translation error.

you see whoever translated quest msut not have been the same guy who translated objects so what happened is that nightshade, one of the ingredients needed for curing vampirism, was translated differently, so in teh quest it says that you need "nachtschatten" which is a literal translation of teh words night and shade, however the night shade plant and alchemy ingredients are translated as "tollkirsche" which is what the plant is actually called in german.

so unless you are aware of the translation error, you will spend the rest of your years trying to find an item which does no texist in the game.

One time I went into an oblivion gate searched a chest and found a ring of 100% shock resistance.

when the vampire quest bugs out and you can't get the cure

The cure for vampirism is even worse if you play the game in german. The witch tells you to collect Nightshade - "Nachtschatten" in the german version. Sounds easy. So you rome around trying to find all the ingredients, until you got them all - well, except "Nachtschatten".
So you search harder - check every barrel, flip every rock, search through the wilderness, ask all the merchants, check areas you haven't visited yet, search through the wilderness, ask the witch again, kill all the merchants, and search through the wilderness. But you wound find any "Nachtschatten". Because the item you searching for is not called "Nachtschatten" but "Tollkirsche".
Yes that's right, the witch tells you to get "Nachtschatten" but they gave the "item" the name "Tollkirsche". And since you need 5 of them, it's unlikely that you will give them too the witch by accident. Good luck figuring that shit out.

In case you were like me, with no access to internet at that time, there is an easy solution; JUST COLLECT 5 PIECES OF EVERY INGREDIENTS IN THE GAME!!!

why does no one understand you have to hover over a choice in the speechcraft and watch their face before making a decision. then selection the best ones for the biggest gains.

so we bought the GOTY edition of Oblivion when it came out and my dad contracted vampirism. he did the quest to cure it but ran into a game breaking glitch that made it so the potion wouldn't stop brewing, make the quest impossible to complete. we found out later the only way to fix the glitch was to buy the non GOTY version and load your save on it. and thats the story on why i have 2 copies of oblivion for ps3

WHAT!!! THE ALLIES FOR BRUMA QUEST IS OPTIONAL!!!! I SPENT SO MANY PLAYTHROUGHS DOING THIS CRAP AND I WAS CONVINCED IT WAS MOST OF THE MAIN QUEST BECAUSE IT TOOK SO DAMN LONG!!! THIS MEANS THAT THE ACTUAL PLAYTHROUGH IS LIKE 8 HOURS LESS!!!! UGH

I personally enjoyed doing the Oblivion gates, though they could get tedious at times. The enchantments were always worth it imo.
