I live in the PNW and camp often. I've never had anything happen that was creepy enough to write about, but my mom has a crazy story about a solo camping trip out near Detroit Lake in Oregon around 1998 or 99. She went up on a service road to the middle of nowhere, where she'd found a nice spot near a small lake/large pond a few days before. About 8pm, she saw a bright light come over a hill about 500 yards away and she said it had spot light that was focusing on parts of the hill and the lake like it was looking for something. Right then, she realized it was not making any sound, and all the natural sounds that were there before, were silent. No wind, nothing. She said it drifted down the hill on the other side of the lake, then proceeded to float over the lake, about 100 or so feet in the air and she could see it's reflection on the water. She said it was a ball of light about 20 feet across. As she was watching it drift over the lake, the spotlight beamed directly at her. She froze in fear for a few seconds as it passed overhead and continued on it's search, or whatever. When it was out of sight, she packed up and went straight home. She tells the story better, lol. I'm just tellin' it as I remember it.

I live in the pnw. As a contractor I work various places and cities. Whole listening to this episode I'm working on a small 4 pew chapel in the middle of the woods. No roads, no power. And it's amazing to hear these stories while alone in the woods.

At 46yrs old, I've been backpacking the Cascades high country for 30 yrs. Short trip is 7 miles up a trail from trailhead for 3 or 4 days. Long trip is 20plus miles in from trailhead. All on foot. For last 15 yrs only done unmaintained trails or high lakes with no trail. When your 10 to 20 miles in from a road or any light or other people for that many miles and hear some weird stuff, or get followed in day, it can be heart pumping. I got more than few stories. But a couple that made me get my pistol ready quick. Worst one had to be 23 miles in on a super unmaintained trail that wasn't closed but not used. If ya want the story, I'll share.

When they say that silence is golden i don't think that applies in the middle of your forests.😱

My wife and I saw a ball of orange hovering and moving over the swamp in louisiana where we live last sat at 3am. We said nope and didn't leave the porch.

That first story with the lights and the door, it makes me think of all of the ancient stone sites with the false doors in them.

Been riding Dirtbikes, And Sleds, in the Washington cascades since I could walk, and only been Howl/growl/screamed at once, on Jacks Pass. Heard a howl 100 yards or more away, below Glacier peak, on a ridge above, somewhere. Saw some red eyes on a night ride, on the sleds, by Stampede pass once. Nothing gonna keep me outta the mountains!

Live in the PNW since 1951 and used to camp out until my stroke a few years ago. I am also a Disabled Combat Veteran, and Medically Retired VA Psych (PTSD) Nurse.

Love the way you tell these stories. I have had serval encounters or sightings that date back to when I was 12y/o. My first sighting occurred during a hunting trip on my 12th birthday in October 1963. Most have been benign, some were even friendly nocturnal encounters. However, my last encounter was almost deadly, had big rocks and crude spears thrown at me as I drove thru some nearby 15 foot tall third growth timber after I buried my recently deceased cat in our pet cemetery near a mountain fire pond.

One thing I have noticed about the creatures during my encounters, was the lack of the strong odor, as described in many accounts. Was able to tell when the dominate male was around as he had a musky odor, but it was not overwhelming like in many accounts.

Please keep putting these tales together, I really enjoy them.

Love from the PNW
(our forests are not dangerous unless you run into rattlers, a big hungry bear or a hungry puma)

PNW. Ok here's my story, its short. When i was in my early 20's (I'm 57 now), i went to my sister's ranch in Baja California, Mexico. She had told me about all this phenomenon that happens there from ghosts to UFO sightings. Being skeptical i wast sure if i should believe her. One night, we were all sitting by the campfire and inbetween were these 2 mountains. As everyone was chatting away and telling stories, i was looking towards the sky admiring the clear and visible stars. Then something towards my right caught my attention. These lights were moving across the sky. I tried to figure out what it was? I said to myself that it's too low for a satellite and it can't be an airlpane because I didnt hear the echo of the jet engines. So as it moved acrross the sky i just kept on looking at it and disappeared on the other end of the sky where the other mountain was at. It left me wondering to this day what could it have been? Ill never know but it sure was fascinating to experience something like that.

Great work as usual. Being a paranormal researcher myself hearing stories like this is not only entertaining but also helps with my theories. Listened to the end I like how you ask us to comment to show we went right to the end and yes I personally like these stories as well as you compilation of cryptids too.

Excellent episode. I always love it when we get attribution of from whence the story has come.

I live in the woods out of Arlington WA city limits. I'm about to turn 42 & since I was 6years old I've always spent my time deeper in the woods or the woods of the hood canal and near by states. Since I've died & revived so many times, I've had all kinds of messed up encounters with all kinds of creatures. For the last 6 years there's this huge thing 12 plus feet tall that hangs out behind this huge ancient owl. This black tall creature has been flying around me and over me trying to get me. The end of winter last year I walked back from my neighbor across the street. I seen something on the other side of my horseshoe driveway, I looked to the right at my house, eyes went back to my cell, then looked at my house and I was seeing my roof, looking down at my roof. I looked up and the creature had me. I quickly undone the snap to my buck knife on my belt and swing at this thing. I hit it and I was thrown. I was hurt when I hit the ground. Limped to my house and stayed inside.
The wolfman almost got me, last summer up near the 4 way at the end of Grandview road. I was lucky a rat rod pulled up. I never had hoped into a strangers vehicle so fast. They started saying did you see that thing coming out to get you, I said yeah I was dealing with it for a miles & almost 1/2.
I have so many more and different creatures, even in 1996 I saw a midevil old man that chased me down my 3 mile road into Arlington town. My niece saw it a couple years later.
