Introduction to Linguistics: Lecture 11 Semantics I

The eleventh lecture in my Introduction to Linguistics course. In this lecture we begin our discussion of semantics by examining the logic of truth values and how the truth value of one sentence may relate to that of others. We then discuss the ways that meaning is related across words. Finally we relate meaning to syntactic structure by introducing the concept of thematic roles, outlining seven of them.
