This part will explain how CDFA techniques can be applied to approaches other than the straight-in RNAV approaches covered in Parts 1 and 2. Traditional aids approaches fit into this category. I’ll then cover describe how to fly an RNAV approach to the opposite runway when circling minimums are not published, which is virtually always. Then we’ll move on to approaches where CDFA guidance is not published. These include approaches with vertical guidance, approaches that only have circling minimums, all approaches in the United States, and approaches which don’t meet NavCanada’s criteria. There is still substantial benefit to be obtained from applying some continuous descent techniques to these approaches. I’ll conclude with some words on flying the missed approach, which apply whether you are using CDFA techniques or not.
