Families in tears as Ukrainian POWs return home after prisoner swap | VOA News #shorts

Ukrainian prisoners of war reunited with their families Monday after being released in a major swap between their country and Russia.

Kyiv brought home 189 former captives, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on social media.

Zelenskyy thanked the United Arab Emirates and other partners for facilitating the swap.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported earlier Monday on the prisoner swap, saying each side had freed 150 prisoners of war. There was no immediate explanation of the discrepancy in the numbers reported.
