Either aircraft would be a true dream come true. The work that AOPA puts into these projects is amazing.

Gotta Love both of them--take either one and love em..the 172 would be a little better in the backcountry out here.
The 182 might be a little more versatile to fly destinations and I love the vintage paint

I'd take the 182. I used to have a Cessna 175 with every STC in the book... loved it.

Another vote for the 182! Worked at Cessna dealer in late 1970's selling aircraft, and the 182 was the all-around favorite for speed, load carrying and comfort. Disappointing to think new ones are pushing $ 3/4 Million (Thanks, Trial Lawyers!!) but even a vintage model is still a great personal aircraft.

I grew up with a 1958 182A Skylane with this paint color scheme, so the nod would have to the Skylane for me.

I would love either one, but I believe the 182 would fit my family perfectly. That is a beautiful bird.

The report on what to consider when purchasing a pre-owned aircraft was spot on. But one thing that I think was missed, is the need to re-register the ELT with NOAA, it’s the newer 406 MHz version. If

A lot of my time is in a 182. I sure would love to be the owner of one. Especially this one.

To be honest, I'd prefer the 170, but because of my age, and insurance requirements, I'd probably have to choose the 182. (That's the category Cessna I flew in my first and only cross country IFR training flight in, from KPLB to two different airports in Maine, then back home.)

I'd take either but I don't have to worry about ground looping the 182. LOL

I wouldn't complain about either one. Although I'd like to win the 170.

1958 underlines how desperately we need better options in GA. Particularly when the untapped potential is so huge. What's readily possible would shock you if it came out as a product.
Regarding insurance, making it a rule to not emergency land on roads with traffic could presumably keep the worst liabilities at bay and do without insurance in the cases where it is quite cost prohibitive and you can afford the loss of the aircraft.
How is unleaded avgas coming along? like truth among politicians and green initiatives in oil companies? or decency in israel.
