Made by request, this video covers the basics of how attacking and blocking (defending) work in Epic, including the sometimes confusing situation of a defender being declared but being destroyed prior to combat damage being dealt, and how champions with Breakthrough are handled.

So after playing a more few games it would seem best move at 8:55 would be sending in Lurking Giant first to try to provoke opponent into blocking and freeing up the Burrowing Wurm for breakthrough attack.

Wow didn't even realize that breakthrough damage completely goes through if you destroy blocker which seems to contradict the rule "if the attack is blocked, the remain blocked even if the blocker(s) leave play."

I imagine the rule that blocking is done despite being able to destroy them is probably the one that irks people the most. On the one hand I thought it made sense at first since one of the selling points is that 'there is no responding or countering' in this game and once actions are played they will occur yet you can clearly stop attackers by countering with events.

I think the rules do come off a bit wonky at first but after 2-3 plays and some rule clarification I personally find myself enjoying it. I just hope they release an app like Star Realms so I can actually find more people to play with!

This video made me doubt the rules even more... so counter-intuitive... thx!

What if I play hunting raptors on my opponents turn, can I use it's expend ability when I block?

Great video. How does it work if let's say there were 3 attackers and only 2 defenders? Or 5 attackers and 1 defender? If 1 defender is a declared blocker against 5 attackers, none of the damage gets through if no attackers have breakthrough? I was confused by that a little bit in the rules.
