*Discussing proposals to monitor and review progress in health and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)*

GHC and Action for Global Health co-hosted a webinar on Wednesday, December 9 to discuss accountability for global health: taking stock of key debates reflecting challenges and opportunities and sharing intelligence of ‘work in progress” to strengthen accountability for health and in particular assess the role of civil society.

What makes an accountability structure effective? Now that the SDGs have been adopted such questions are particularly pertinent and are being discussed in a number of different fora related to global health. Our panel of speakers will update us on these key discussions and highlight their understanding of how national governments and international partners can best facilitate transparency.

The session takes into account agreed upon SDG 3 targets, is aware of ongoing negotiations on health indicators; and the roadmap of the MA4Health.

Featured speakers included:

— Susannah Hurd, Global Health Visions: Presenting Guiding Principles for Civil Society-Led Accountability Campaigns
— Lola Dare, Chestrad: Update on the Global Data Collaborative on Performance Measurement and Accountability – role of civil society
— Lara Brearley, Management Sciences for Health (MSH): Update on latest talks to set-up global governance and accountability of UHC
