The best part is this could be perfectly canon, because dr Manhattan can see the future, so he asks about steve jobs but Rorschach has no idea who he is bc he didn't existe yet, truly a masterpiece 👏🏻

I'm still amazed by the sheer brilliance of this small 11 second video that somehow manages to crack a smile out of me every time. First you have the contrast of what is one of the more awesome parts of watchmen where Rorsach takes a stand to that universe's equivalent of God walking among men for sake of his principles and truth, followed by a humane cry of outrage from Nite owl witnessing the nonchalant obliteration of his companion from a mere wave of Dr manhattans hand, dubbed over with what is undoubtedly the cream of the crop of dumbass jokes to be birthed in recent years WHICH isn't even delivered correctly. This disproportionate contrast between the poetic beauty of an almost archetypal portrayal of moral courage in one of the classic comic books stories made cinema and a not even half wit, shitey joke where the setup is the CEO of an incredibly successful business dying from a mystery illness, which becomes a retort to lick the deliverers genitals is in of itself absurd. The terrible joke being delivered by the representation of absolute power and higher order existence like an absolute train wreck as the recipient does not even understand the setup and yet the joke is continued anyway, coupled with the atmosphere created from the background music and the setup of the original scene itself, completely negates any level of seriousness that can be interpreted. The sound of the voices used further compound this with Dr manhattan dubbed by an almost parodic, echoing deep tone and rorsach as a plucky high pitched innocent, arranged such that each word and line shines forward in perfect harmony and ended by a single tone of the closing diminuendo where rorsach is obliterated after hearing the ultimate punchline: "ligma balls". The brief closing cry of nite owl after witnessing to the viewers eyes some dumbass joke completes this picture of absurdity. All this crammed into a single space of 11 seconds, in my own opinion, tops this as one of the most elegant pieces of humour I have witnessed. While not overly creative one might argue, the delivery and construction are truly top notch in their effectiveness
