Character of Maqam

Character of Maqam building block™ is so important when it comes to performance in general but specifically to taqasim and composition.

This is not to generalise that the Maqam building block™ is always the same. I always like to think of Maqam as the raw clay which you can shape but this needs to come with the knowledge of its core character.

Not to mention that juxtaposing 2 Maqam building blocks of different characters is CRUCIAL in creating Tarab (musical rapture).

The Maqam building block system dives deep into each of the building blocks to help you perform improvise and compose in a way that sounds authentic without boring music theory (the theory is there for those who seek it but it comes second to embodying the maqamat )
