Sublimation Shirts: The Best Polyester Count to Use

When it comes to sublimation shirts, you want to make sure that you purchase the right thing. What polyester content is correct? Can you get by with a cotton shirt? Will 50% polyester work? I am answering all of those questions and more with some experiments on shirts of various percentages of polyester just so you can see what happens after sublimating and washing!

Thank you so much- you saved me so much money- I have a sawgrass 500 and I was having trouble sublimating on 100% cotton. I found out that I have to use chroma blast ink to sublimation on 100% cotton which meant that I would have to buy another printer just to sublimate on 100% cotton using the sawgrass printer or get a poly blend shirt in which case thiers no guarantee the design would last.I was using the forever subli light no cut paper on 100% cotton. and it would not take. I spoke with sawgrass and the agent said that the ink and the substrate must be compatible similar to a happy marriage lol. Thanks again I love your videos and will continue to watch 😀.

I am new to the heat press world. I have been on social security after retiring from the 8 hour working world now for 10 years and decided to put my paintings on t shirts for some extra income. I have learned a lot from your videos, but unable to find the 75% polyester T shirts that you mentioned. I just received some 100% Gildan shirts and want something a bit softer in white and colors. Hi There! I just recently discovered your contents and it’s been so helpful! You are so clear and straight to the point and I appreciate that. Quick question though when using tshirts with lower count of polyester let’s say that 60% can I use one or there polyester spray (I see people using when sublimating on cotton) on it before sublimating to make it bond better and make my results last longer?
