The Ottoman Empire emerged as a local Beylik, principality, in the last year of the 13th century in the small town of Söğüt soon to take over vast areas of western Anatolia. Within a century the small principality was grown into a complex empire that defeated the Byzantines and controlled large territories from the Arabian peninsula to the Carpathian basin. The small town of Söğüt is home to the burial cite of Ertuğrul Gazi, father of Osman, the founder of the Ottoman Empire. Though this tomb was known by the locals and history enthusiasts, it became very popular after the Turkish tv series of Dirliş Ertüğrul and many people visit this place when they travel to Turkey. In this video, I drove from Istanbul to Söğüt which took about 3 hours and I filmed the last hour until I reach the town. The video of the tomb of Eruğrul Gazi will come on this Sunday. Drive with me to Söğüt and see it yourself!

Nice interesting drive, went many years ago (in 2007) on the main D650 highway during a bus trip through Turkey, but the road from Bilecik to Sögüt was new to me. Thanks for sharing it, nice to discover the beautiful Turkey with you!
