It's not clear to me what the Failover vlan is used for.

If your hardware has redundant NICs just trunk them to different switches via MLAG for full h/w failover as a foundation, then just plumb your vlans where they need to go.

Or is this config methodology for vSphere Standard which doesn't have the MLAG functionality in the featureset? I'm a bit rusty as VShpere 5.x was the last version I used.

I am curious, how many years of studying and being in IT will bring you from knowing a little bit of networking to where you are now? I have my Net+, have my associates in networking, and i am studying for the CCNA. I see guys like you and i feel as if ill never get to the level you are on.
