I woukd be interested to know the specific definition of "supervised" as he is clearly talking to them and guiding them during the video. Is that not supervision?

Anyone else finds these videos soothing and calming.

I have seen instructors on the phone during lessons…I just hope I am wrong and it was ADI training but given the number of bunny-hop pull aways I doubt it was

Mine would never be out of the car whilst I was driving it, and he's never on his phone either, he is always checking for hazards and things.
Can't see the need to get out of the car for bay parking.

I would not say that this was 'unsupervised' in the literal sense, but I do believe that the instructor put themselves in a position that if something went wrong they would not be able to react appropriately. I know, I am a pedantic person. lol

Doesn’t look unsupervised to me. Looks very supervised as he’s by them instructing and supervising on their driving and parking 🤔🧐🧐

I saw a council car park recently that had a sign saying “No Learners”. Ridiculous.

My Dad and I were guilty of this. My Dad had me do lots of practice in empty car parks with him directing me from outside of the car.

Even worse, I practised driving for many hours a day under his supervision. In the evenings, while I was driving on the roads, he'd fall asleep for short periods here and there, sometimes for up to 20-30 minutes.

Such that I was literally driving on the road completely unsupervised while he slept next to me. Because I was only 18, young and stupid. I always carried right on driving, only occupied with how cool I felt it and I was to be driving by myself unsupervised.

Fortunately, nothing ever happened because I was an extremely well-practised and competent learner. It did heavily contribute towards me passing first time with only 2 minors. But that's not the point looking back it was dangerous and illegal.

Unless it's a tight space why does the instructor need to get out. It's not like once you've passed your test are going to say you need to guide me in or find a stranger and get them to guide you in, in a car park. The instructor should be in the car telling you where to look

It’s ok he’s braking the law professionally.

I’ve long thought that solo driving should be a necessary part of learning. In controlled conditions away from the general public, I don’t see why not. Other than the cost of building a bunch of learner tracks….

If the learner panics & loses control, resulting in crash or someone gets injured, it big trouble for instructor with Police & dvsa.

I had one single lesson with BSM back when I was learning.
It was only a single lesson because if I made even the slightest tiny mistake, the instructor (an old boy) would literally punch my left leg, presumably as some kind of punishment. So messed up.

My driving instructor has never done this 😳 he’s got out, put cones out to help me (the first time I did a reverse bay park) and I was stationary and then he got back in the car whilst I did the manoeuvre.
I personally think that instructors like this, will make a learner feel they can get in a car and drive at anytime on their own before they pass, and it gives us law abiding learners a bad name.

Not sure if supervising from outside the vehicle is OK. My bus instructor did this to teach the manoeuvre for the test.

On a private land, it is perfectly legal.

Risky, but I don't think it's THAT bad. I'd probably have a bit more professionalism than this

He is supervising the driver. But from not within the vehicle.

it's ilegal I've been an instructor since 1986, don't even leave them in the car alone with real keys

Honestly, i imagine they are helping the student to visualise or point out some 'marks' in the wing mirror to help reverse bay park. If the car park is quiet then i dont see a problem
