Steve, just wanted to drop you a short comment to thank you for all your videos and information! You certainly aren't going to be able to stop working based on whatever revenue the videos generate. What you do is more a very knowledgeable public service effort. Thank you!

Great video.
I took Steve's advise.
I have the VS and with my main drain at 2.5" I made the right choice.
The unions are Great to have.

Could you please define what you mean by small medium and large pool sizes

Unrelated, but I think you'll enjoy the paper "Effect of 90° elbows on pump inlet flow conditions". It calls into question the 5x-pipe-diameter-elbow-to pump-inlet recommendation, suggesting that even 50x with a single short radius elbow isn't quite enough to restore the velocity differential to acceptable levels!

They don't simulate the effect of a filter basket, so I'm not convinced the distance matters much once we've got a basket with a few leaves in it causing turbulence.

Super pumps all ship 2" now. Great video Steve, just subbed and really am enjoying the content.

Great video Steve. I got my Superpump VS from the orange big box store, and i was surprised when it came with 2" female threaded ports.

Watching all your videos from so far away - Egypt :)
I am attempting to DIY my own swimming pool and I was wondering if you can shoot a video showing all the essential components for a (20x30 ft) pool.

What is head pressure? Also when you talk about the distance does the it matter about the skimmer box end vs the inlet jets. My skimmer is 60’ from the pump but the inlets are only 35’ away.

Hi Steve, does the super pump have similar energy savings as the Tristar?

Wondering how the superpump compares to the pentair intelliflo you did a head to head on in an earlier video.

Getting ready to replace my WhisperFlo WFDS-26 1.5 Hp 2 speed with the Tri-Star 900 1.85. Wondering if the higher 900 would be better... ~55 feet of head

What causes pool water to become green although calorie level is high PH is also good but the diamond brite is warm out i would say 75% thanks

I've got a Jacuzzi 1.85hp pump that looks identical to the Tristar, I think its the same pump

Hi Have you ever heard of a Blue Torrent in ground 1.5 hp pool pump? My pool guy is trying to replace my Hayward with it. He Also said that my pump had to be bonded and grounded. My Hayward was grounded. Any thoughts, I'd appreciate it.

Is that feet of head based on max rpm of 3450?

Hi steve. Might be an out of subject question... Would a pump like these push enough water at max speed for counter current swimming in a 3x7 pool? Was thinking to clean at low rpm and use only occasionally at full power

Could you save energy by going with the bigger pump, but run it at a lower speed.

I have 2 inch pipe, roof top heating, but max the pump out at 2000rpm (tristar 900). I figure a superpump could not do what needs to be done at that speed.

2000rpm was the amount to not get a air lock in my solar heating.

If I can get either for the same price, and I have a 30' TDH pool (guestimate, not measured) with a 1.5" trunk and no features, would running the TriStar be more efficient? Is this where those curve diagrams comparing flow, head, and rpm should be used?

So I have an older Hayward 1.5 hp super pump single stage 230v that I’m looking to replace with something more efficient. Electric bill is ridiculous. My pool is an inground simple 16x32 about 7.5 ft deep at the deep side. Dual floor drains that are side by side, single strainer and 3 wall jets with 1 1/2 inch piping. I was looking at replacing it with this. Hayward W3SP3210X15XE TriStar XE Ultra-High Efficiency Pool Pump, 1.85THP, 230/115V. But now I’m really a bit confused on what to get. Is this too much pump or is this just what I need? Any thoughts?
