Ok so here’s my theory.
Mirabel is, like, the next abuela. Here’s some proof :
- She didn’t get a gift like abuela
- She is the only one, except abuela, who "talk" with Casita
- Casita only breaks when Mirabel is sad/angry (it was my impression when I saw the movie) and it wouldn’t surprise me if it was the same thing with abuela
- At the end, she is the one who are in the center of the door.

My theory is that mirabel and Abuela have the same gift and their gift is to talk to casita and mirabel’s room is casita.

The reason why they didn't give Mirabel a gift I think is because it relates to the morals of the story. Like you don't need a gift to be somebody in your family. And even if you had a gift it will always come with burdens that affect your life.

There is a theory that says that at the time it was the day of receiving the gift, the family was separating because of Bruno's disappearance and that made the magic wobble, that is seen because the flame moves.

I guess I'd say it was because she's the next Candle holder/guardian of the candle. I also thought it was because she wiped her hands though lol I mean, they took the time to animate that. Maybe just to throw us off, as she's the next guardian.

I think it’s the first theory. When Abuela Alma passes, Mirabel will be the next candle holder.

Or another theory is that abuela is the one who subconsciously determines the gifts for the children and the reason Mirabel didn’t get one is because abuela didn’t see anything she’d be particularly useful for

Another one is that her "room" is the house because at the end it lights up and stuff like the rooms

It's because she need to prove that a gift doesn't define her.

Someone who was involved in making the movie confirmed that if someone was adopted into the family, they would get a gift. Mirabelle didn't get a gift because she was so disconnected from the family.
