This city is basically a hometown to me. They probably would've let him off with a warning when his name checked out. If you make an honest mistake and own up they're pretty damn chill. I think I'm stopping at this Publix for a sub tomorrow now

Yes, I'm sure there were and my question for the parking offender is, "Why didn't you park over there and avoid this ticket/confrontation?"
This day and age, it behooves one to follow the law even when the police don't.
Yes, the cop did violate this citizen's rights of free speech but it all would not have happened if the guy had just parked legally.
Handicapped and Fire Lanes ARE sacred in my opinion and should not be abused.
IF there had been a fire and YOU were not around, I'm betting that the FD would have towed or axed your boat up just to move it as they have been known to do and YOU would have had no recourse except if your insurance were that good.
The "Liquor" sign behind the boat does not make for a good atmosphere here.
So, come on obey the laws of the land and avoid this kind of fuss.
