i am an endurance athlete and the best way i've found to replenish my body (fluids, carbs, electrolytes, and sugars) is a mixture of water, sprite, and gatorade (or whatever sports drink you can get). when i come back from a ride, i cannot handle food so in order to not pass out from lack of glycogen/glucose is sprite and gatorade. i use the water to not only dilute the sugar but also to add more hydration into the mixture. it will digest quickly as well. if you really need to, honey is a good additive if you need the extra sugar (ie you've had food poisoning and are not able to keep solids down but still need calories to rebuild strength; if you've had a fever for a few days and are not able to eat solid food because it makes you nauseous). you can also sub out the sprite and just use honey, water, and gatorade (my ex boyfriend used to do this mixture for his triathlons, i also use it occasionally).

You sound more American when you're "loopy/out of it" from your cold. I think it's the extra chill carefree vibe. I loled at the end when you were like, "Arick is home! What is that?" *camera zooms in on MacDonald's he brought back* "Arick, noooo..." because you can't be eating that kinda stuff when sick. And Arick just looks side to side, hahaha

I'm Native American and Mexican. Pretty much I mixed but usually when we were sick we ate something called albondigas. Its a veggie rice meatball soup.its comfort food really or caldo de pollo which is a veggie chicken soup - no noodles.

Yes, it's congee that we have here in China, it's more watery than the Japanese one but we add a lot of fermented things in ours like century eggs, pickles etc. But usually, when you're sick you eat it plain with a bit of salt add into it. BTW, you don't have to clean the rice all the way until the water's clear, what I usually do is rinse it twice and it's alright, cleaning it all the way will wash away the nutrients of the rice (at least that's what my traditional Chinese family says). Take care and hope you get well soon!

My comfort food (prepared by my Japanese mom) when I was a child was scrambled eggs sweetened with sugar, mixed with soy sauce, and then partially cooked in a sauce pan then she'd add leftover rice until it was nice and hot -- I still make it for myself when I'm under the weather.

I just wanted to give you a honey and lemon tea, a big box of tissues, a selection of “best cheerful films to watch when you’re sick” and a hug! Bless you girl. ❤️ Glad you’re feeling better now! I totally know how daunting it can feel being sick in a country and having to communicate in a language that isn’t your mother tongue! Also, props to you for the Milhouse reference ahaha. Love love love, glad you’re staying hydrated! You know your girl Taylor B would be proud.

Hey Emma or anyone who has a cold! One thing that helps with a sore throat and stops coughing (if you're suffering with that) is making a mixture of hot water, 2 spoonfuls of white vinegar, and 2 spoonfuls of honey or however much you want depending on how sweet you want the drink. It'll smell and taste horrible but it works! You only really need to drink one mug of it a day to help soothe your throat and stop the coughing. Good luck, and feel better soon! ☺️💕

I live in Hawaii and both my parents are mixed race (Asian/white/native) so we have kind of a mix of things we do when we’re sick. The secret to my grandmas chicken soup that will totally get you better is LOTS of tomato and ginger! And we also drink sports drinks, or clear soup like wakame, or we eat jook which is rice porridge but instead of water we cook with turkey or chicken broth.

You are so funny and cute when you don't feel well. And so kind to show us how to make rice. Hope you're all better now!

Geographically speaking Australia is in Asia. But culturally speaking we are 'western'.

I'm also from Brisbane and moving to Japan next year!

I'm in America but in my Hispanic household my mom always makes us egg soup, it's basically chicken broth noodle soup w a poached egg but w her seasonings. Its easy, fast, and really good and it feels so nice in your tummy. The egg is a nice touch so you get something to chew instead of just drinking soup. I know how to make it now and I make any time I feel under the weather.
