Brave souls those merchant mariners. Delivering goods for you and me around the globe in hostile conditions, these guys deserve more credit than they get yet. Hats off 🙏

It's amazing how quickly a "Giant Ship" becomes a "little boat".

imagine the 17th century ships that had sails and no engine going into the same storm

It really shows the ocean’s awesome size and strength. It’s terrifying and beautiful

Those Navy guys didn't look like they were in trouble. They looked like they knew exactly what they were doing. Cutting between the wave sets and taking the big waves head on like you're supposed to do. Go Navy!

I remember being on the carnival legend on a cruise back from Vanuatu to Australia and we encountered about 6 hours of 12 metre swells, they closed all public decks and kept everyone inside, chairs were flying around, plates were breaking. We had room 7300 looking out the stern and as we were at the rear it felt like a roller coaster . My wife hated it and was sick but I was loving every minute of it .

That’s not a “dinghy”, it’s a rib with likely 700hp of engine power. You’d be surprised what these guys train for, especially the marines and the SBS. Train hard, fight easy.

I sailed for thirty years and believe me when I tell you this is par the course, just the way it is at Sea, the worst of it is that you don't get to fully rest in between your watches

Video 2:54 What many don't know is that those boats are made for extremely rough seas, they are heavy enough to not get blown over by crazy wind but also light enough to not slam down after cresting large waves. It's a fine line that they built these boats to and they are made specifically for this type of weather. Scary yes, but You are better off in this small boat than a 20 or 30 footer in the same conditions.

I don't know why but the sea scares me 😨

I can imagine the horrifying thrill of being onboard a ship in these storms, but, oh hell no, could I ever do it! These shipping crews have nerves made of metal, they really earn their pay.

Whenever I see these videos I am thinking of the Vikings going through this stuff in wooden boats. How many of these lads never returned home.

That is insane. Looks like they're in a hurricane. Mad respect for the piloting skills.

Top 10 holiday tip: there's an area to the South of the North Sea called the Golden Carrot Patch where waves regularly reach 285, 000 miles high on choppy days, and you can visit the moon for free if you ride it. Highly recommended for the views.

Okay compilation. It doesn't get better after the first video.

Southern people would be out on the deck staring at the waves like it were a tornado

No - you will NOT find sea water at -10°C, the coldest it will get before freezing is -3°C or thereabouts (because of salinity)
