My uncle Bill gave my family a bunch of 78rpm records along with a record player. This song was one of them. I played it endlessly It must have been around 1965.

When I was around 13, the school sent some of us on a tour of Europe. and we were taught to sing this song in German. It was shortly after the war and when we went to the Black forest in Germany we sang this song for the townspeople in Wangen and they loved it and they loved us too.
