Again a Lie! The complexity of European royalty is well researched, the English crown was linked to royal families from the Mediterranean to Eastern Europe and Nordic royalty. Philippa of Hainault looked like her father, William the Good, she is quoted as being "brown eyed dark hair and darker skinned as her father" (The Register of Walter de Stapledon, Bishop of Exeter, 1307–1326) . William's male lineage was from Hainault in Flanders, is mothers lineage was from Luxembourg. Skin tones are purely down to melanin, more melanin in white people would result in brown eyes, dark hair and a darker skin tone. The term black here is ill used, it is recorded that Edward of Woodstock, on occasion, along with his Father, wore black armour for anonymity in battle as at Calais. Edward of Woodstock's "Arms of peace" were 3 white feathers on a black background. Finally it was reference to his reputation, as with "Black Douglas" Sir James Douglas Lord of Douglas 1286-1330, he led bloody raids on Northern England for a decade. Again the name the "Black Prince" was never used in his lifetime! Please stop Blackwashing history.

he got the name black prince from being unchilivarous in his campaigns in france, burning down farming and housing, general raiding, this was kinda the beginning of the end of chilivary in the middle ages, but also releasing one of the french princes created a more complicated image of his morality, especially for the time, he is a distinct figure in english history yet his details are shrouded in the general ignorance most people have for the time in history, he deffo was white, unless his, french, mother was black while being a red head, i doubt. and edward iii was deffo white as well. stop re-writing history, if you want black british figures in history that are a source of inspiration check out ignatius sancho's life story, first black briton to vote etc

Well, anyone can see from those paintings (eg 1:09 ) that Edward is a White as a toilet bowl but had a penchant for black armour.
