My mum demonstrated knitting machines at shows in the late 70s early 80s. Brings back memories of her making samples and jumpers for us kids.

Hi, enjoying watching this as usual :-). I got my knitting machine came out of the lost after 25 years and its working fine, bar needing a new foam thingy. Really good! I am looking forward to using it more again.

I wore braides/plaites all my life as a child, and sometimes as teen, wish I'd never had my hair cut when I was about 30 yrs ....love the knits you have shown this podcast..the Kate Davies sweater is lovely the neck looks fine. xx Your knit machine sounds very exciting and it does colour work amazing. I love learning what each of us makers find "worth it". For instance, I'd probably choose just to knit your friend's cable sweater in pieces as opposed to all the alterations you're choosing. Whereas, you'd rather knit an entire panel of cables that you don't enjoy, just to avoid seaming. :) I just finished the Svenson sweater and am seaming today, so maybe I'll be in your camp when I'm done!

Thanks for the heads up on the Nerven shawl. Not only is it for a worthy cause, it's an amazing looking shawl as well. You had me at "short rows." It's jumped to the top of my queue, and I think I'm going to use some of my Holst SuperSoft cones in there (I went a little nuts with the Holst during their Black Friday sale in 2018).

Eli I'm having so many flashbacks to my childhood with your knitting machine. For a period in the 90s my mom did knitting machine work for a sweater designer. I still to this day have NO IDEA how they work! Haha

Knit leader I think is like a knit tracer, they allow you to chart out in full or half size on graph paper and then convert it to the machine. I think. I have one but it’s never left the box so could not give anymore of a clue than that.
