Student Schedules and Classes
~We are back to our two semester year, where students take multiple concurrent classes in an multi- period day (see bell schedules).
~Students take ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, GALS Series, Movement for the entire year, and two accelerators that change at semester.
~MS students will have one math or literacy accelerator assigned to them, and will rank their preferences during the first week of school for their second accelerator.
Health Parameters
~DPS works with Denver Health to set health parameters for its schools. GALS will align with DPS health parameters to a great extent.
~DPS is waiting until closer to the start of school to make final determinations around mask wearing, distancing, and quarantining. We anticipate having these out to families by August 18, or sooner if possible.
~We urge all students who can be vaccinated to be vaccinated, this makes GALS the safest place possible for all of our students, staff, and families. For information on how or where to receive a free vaccine, please contact the front office.
Dress Code
~If you ordered GALS Gear online, you can pick it up at Registration!
~If you have "outgrown" GALS Gear that you want to donate, you can drop it off at the front office anytime between 8:30 - 4 starting July 26.
~If you need to purchase GALS Gear (MS must wear a GALS top daily) you can purchase those at Registration!
Transportation & Way to Go
~We use Way to Go (through the City/County of Denver) to match our students’ families with their neighbors to potentially set up carpools to school.
~GALS also offers reduced price bus passes for students in the Front Office.
ChromeBooks at GALS!
~All new students will receive a GALS chrome book to use for academics and GALS programming. These will be distributed either at 6th Grade Jump Start or the First Day of School. All students will need to be responsible for bringing their chrome book with them daily to school.
~If you are a returning GALS student and your ChromeBook has an issue, please bring it to Registration so we can support you.
School Supplies
~We will publish a full school supply list by August 10th. If you are eager to shop now to prepare, here are some ways to get started:
