When I was a guard, inmates would gamble with coffee, sweetener and creamer. A Cadillac was a coffee with creme and sugar. I forget what the other combos were called. But we got to bring our own coffee and had a pot locked in our offices. I used to bribe inmates with fresh coffee to do special projects for the housing block. A cup for you if you go clean the sallyport. Two cups if you clean the showers. 5 cups if you wax the day room floor(I got clearance from the keys to have an inmate from each group on the detail). As a guard, I hated playing politics with the inmates, but it did make everything easier for everyone in the long run.

This absolutely floored me when I went to jail....the girls would snort coffee all the time...many did it constantly and would prefer it over a cup of coffee.

When I got to the dorm after I had been in detox/med pc (detoxing from methadone....120mg a day) the girls were so nice...asked me if I needed anything (no charge....really no charge) I asked for some then told me to meet them in the "big" stall....I was like why? They said "so the camera can't see what we doing" I asked "cups of coffee are contraband?". They were like "no, snorting it is" my jaw hit the floor and I was speechless for a moment then went "you SNORT coffee???". They were like "yeah, it gives a better buzz". I was like...."nah, um I don't snort anything....just a cup of coffee would be ok.". They gave me a cup and were cool and all. Explained more about snorting coffee and helped me with the ins and outs and all since I was a HUGE fish with HUGE gills as it was my first time being in jail (happened in July 2022....got out I. Sept 2022)

I remember in county I would watch a group of people mix that freeze dried coffee in with a small amount of tobacco (a lot more coffee than tobacco), roll it up and smoke it. I couldn’t stop laughing as they choked themselves out hitting it, within an hour running to the toilet pooping their brains out.. but they did this everyday claiming it got them high.. the crazy stuff people do never ceases to amaze me.😂
