I abandon my hand filing efforts and move on to arguably the most important task in knife making. The heat treat.

Black and White ebony might be cool with the damascus steel

African mahogany, olive wood and ebony are all good options. I would go with the mahogany though

Greatest infomercial ever! Also, African Mahogany.

Paduka or Jerusalem Olive. Also, for purple heart when it starts to turn grey, heat it up. It will bring the purple back to the surface. Hair dryer can work, but I used a torch, just make sure to not heat it too much and burn it.

Also, my favorite handle material was that red wood. That looks so good

You DO know that files are meant to be pushed one way and that rubbing them forward and back will dull them?

Over 8 months later. I am guessing you gave up? Call Will Stelter for help!

Cumaru would be great as a contrast to the darker damascus.
