Utah's new first-time homebuyer program won't take effect right away

There’s new money for first-time homebuyers in Utah.

This week, Gov. Spencer Cox ceremonially signed a program into law aimed at helping more people get that first home.

The $50 million program could help thousands of families. But if you take a close look at Senate Bill 240 which established it, the assistance doesn't take effect until July 1.

And maybe not even then.
