Befriending Orphaned Blacktail Deer and Their Reactions to My Elderly Chihuahua || ViralHog

Blacktail deer are plentiful in my wooded neighborhood, and I’ve befriended several that were orphaned. They show up most days, hoping I’ll come out and provide some apples, peanuts and seeds. If I happen to let out our elderly chihuahua to do his business when they are there, they watch him like an approaching mountain lion. The dog has declining vision and hearing, so he just toddles around the yard, completely unaware that deer are watching his every move!

You may want to call your local wildlife management and ask to get the deer tagged. Especially if you feed the deer. Tagging the deer let’s hunters know that the deer is human fed. Not to be hunted. Majority of human fed deers will not know to run from people. So it won’t try to escape hunters.
