perez deliberately crashed his car in monaco so that max couldn't finish his very fast lap. otherwise max would have been first on pole position and then max would also have won. the race because it is almost impossible to overtake in monaco. perez knew that if he crashed his car before max could finish his lap, perez would start on pole. perez confessed a few weeks later that he had done this on purpose. and Max was still very angry about that. and that's the reason he didn't want to step aside for perez
