Apple PowerMac G4 MDD - Dual 1GHz - Overview

I got another PowerMac G4 for free a while ago, so I cleaned it up, did some upgrades and here's the result!

I had the single cpu 1ghz model. Upgraded it a bit and had 10.3 running on it. I still think it was the nicest computer I ever owned. Built like a tank, worked flawlessly.

Mine can't run OS 9 sadly. On the other hand it now has two 250GB SATA drives, with one running Tiger and the other running Leopard. It also has a Airport card that only works on Leopard.

Man...i miss my iMac G5 now.

How many conflicting opinions on the G4 MDD, but we only talk about aesthetics and not performance, such as AGP 4x and Radeon 9000 Pro 64Mb, 64bit PCI at 66Mhz .... the dual processor from 800Mhz to 1.47Ghz with 167Mhz bus, the large cache for each cpu and the fast management of ATA 133 disks as well as the possibility of mounting a second Superdrive, of the brand that you want therefore not necessarily Apple - Pioneer. It is a machine that easily uses Leopard where it acquires a good 20% more performance than Tiger and now that Snow Leopard has been modified by good programmers we will be able to see how much OSX 10.6 manages to push much more on PowerPc by strongly using the Altivec coprocessor. Do not disassemble your G4 to use the case with a banal Intel, let it be operational they are still useful and virus free machines

The kensington lock thing was useless, and at the graphic design school i went to they screwed a hole through the bottom and screwed them to the desk with glue.. (heat gun and weird screw shape required for robbery)

The quicksilver was the best plastic era case. it was sleek and spoke a clear single design language. the MDD seems like a amateurish collection of hacks and mods that ruined the design on the front AND the back!

The first Quicksilver was one of the best looking Macs of all time, but the MDD was just butt ugly. With all those ugly intakes on the front, giant rectangular mirrored optical drive bays and weird placement of the speakers on the top, WHAT WAS APPLE THINKING RUINING SUCH AN AMAZING DESIGN?!
